Silk Scroll
A traditional style of Asian painting first popularized during the Tang Dynasty (618-907). The design of the actual scroll is quite complex with delicate rice paper being carefully mounted on a silk brocade backer. The scroll has a wood dowel at the base and a cord at the top for hanging. Packaged in a protective sturdy gift box.
In Asia, cranes symbolize long life and fidelity and are often depicted as a pair. In China, it is thought that the remarkable fluidity and precise movements of cranes inspired various styles of martial arts – including Kung Fu.
Dragons symbolize health, strength and energy – and are revered across Asia. They are ferocious in appearance, but also help guide the universe. The symbol on the upper left is the Chinese word for dragon.
